WV 956 crosses the Potomac and into Maryland at Rocket Center. The 956 designation continues into Maryland; MD 956 runs for only one half mile until ending at US 220 south of Cumberland.

Upon crossing the Potomac into Maryland, you will find the only standing MD 956 West sign.
