In December 2003, WV 62 was extended on an easterly trek along the former alignment of US 33 to end at I-77 in Ripley. Continuing straight ahead puts you on US 33 East.

A look at the beginning of WV 62 South from US 33 West.  US 33 had continued straight along WV 62 to the bridge over the Ohio River in Mason. (see historical northern terminus photos below.)

US 33 was moved to a new alignment in December 2003 that begins at I-77 in Ripley.  The route running westbound is as follows: North on I-77 to the WV 2 Ravenswood exit (exit 146), west from WV 2 to the Ravenswood Bridge, crossing the bridge into Ohio and then following a new alignment towards Pomeroy.

WV 62 was the first route that US 33 sees upon entering West Virginia from Ohio.  The bridge connects Pomeroy, Ohio to Mason.  WV 62 North now follows the path of US 33 East.

The Southern Terminus of WV 62 is at WV 25 in South Charleston.
