South End: Mullens

(H.B. Elkins) The Northern Terminus of WV 54 is at WV 16/97 in Sophia. WV 54 is multiplexed with WV 97 from Maben to the Northern Terminus. WV 97 East continues alongside of WV 16 to the West Virginia Turnpike in Beckley.

(H.B. Elkins) The Southern Terminus of WV 54 is again at WV 16 in Mullens. Compare the photo above with the two that were also taken by H. B. last year. The terminus now sports a traffic signal and the landscape has changed.

This terminus is slightly interesting as if you continue straight from WV 16 South, as shown in the photo above, you reverse directions and head 'north'. This is because at this point WV 16 South is actually running north until turning east south east at the intersection with route 54.
