PA 660

West End: The Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania
East End: North of Covington

Editors Note: The eastern end of PA 660 was extended one mile northward in November 2004.  The final mile of PA 660 East is an old alignment of US 15.

The Western Terminus of PA 660 is at the entrance to the Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania near Leonard Harrison State Park.  The 'END' sign is located about 1500 feet from the entrance to the park.  At the park's entrance, a LWS sign signifies the 'official' end of PA 660.

David Slauenwhite provides the two photos of the map of the area at the overlook at the state park.  As you can see, the road that was formerly PA 660 ends at the overlook.  The elevation at this point is 1833 feet.  The overlook is at a drop-off at approximately 800 feet.

The Eastern Terminus of PA 660 is at the junction of US 15 (freeway being carried on the bridge in the distance) and US 15 Business north of Covington.

The LWS's denote the actual east end of PA 660 and the beginning of SR 2005 (Business US 15).  Below, pavement markings made during the building of the interchange to remind workers where to put the sign.

This guide sign is found on US 15 South.  The exit tab will sit empty for a number years but is reserved when Interstate 99 will make its appearance here.
Historical Eastern Terminus: Covington

(David Slauenwhite)

The former Eastern Terminus of PA 660 is at US 15 north of Convington.  Above the end sign, and below the actual terminal intersection.  David in a later e-mail mentioned that the elevation at this point is 1180 feet.

Now that the US 15 Freeway is completed here.  PA 660 turns left here and runs northward on Old US 15 until the intersection with the new freeway and US 15 Business south of Mansfield.
