PA 44

North End: Ceres
South End: Buckhorn

(Jason Bennett)
The North end of the line for PA 44 is at the NY Border in Ceres, McKean County.  In the top photo, Jason is in PA looking into New York.  The intersecting road is NY 417.  The state line and Northern Terminus of PA 44 is about 50 feet before the intersection.  That's how close NY 417 comes to PA!  There are four PA 44 shields found on NY 417.

The 'END' PA 44 marker is positioned at the state line.  You can barely make out the Welcome to New York guide sign behind the end sign in the distance.

(David Brunot)

The PA 44 shield looks non-standard to PA.  David did mention that at least one PennDot issued PA 44 sign stands in New York.

In this photo, Jason gets the signage at the border.

PA 44 is a long road.  Its Southern Terminus is in Buckhorn, Columbia County.  It ends at PA 42 at I-80.  The photo below shows the South End of PA 44.

(Matt Redden)

The terminus is easily accessible from Exit 232 on Interstate 80.

From the I-80 West offramp, travelers wishing to go North on PA 44 just need to go straight.

A look at the same intersection from PA 42 North.  The offramp from I-80 west is on the right.
