PA 43
PA Turnpike 43/PA 43, like PA
29 and 97, has two distinct instate sections,
that does not cross a state border (PA 426).
However, this situation will be temporary, as PA 43, when completed, will
stretch from Pittsburgh to the WV Line north of Morgantown.
North Segment:
(Ed & Shari Szuba)
The Northern Terminus is at PA 51 in Large. Immediately after the Jefferson
Hills Toll Plaza, traffic is funneled into one lane to the Exit 54 offramp,
marking the end of Turnpike 43. There is not an 'END' sign present.
(Ed & Shari Szuba)
Here is the end of the Exit 54 ramp. Marking the current end of PA
TPK 43.
(Jeff Kitsko)
The Southern Terminus of the North segment at US 40/PA 88 in West Brownsville.
There is not an END sign present at the terminus. PA 88 South continues
straight ahead. US 40 is carried over the highway on the overpass
in the photo.
Mason Dixon Segment:
(Adam Prince)
The Northern Terminus of PA 43/PA Turnpike 43 is at US 119/US 40 in Chadville.
The end sign sits at the PA 857/US 119 Fairchance/Smithfield
Exit. (Exit 8) However, South PA 43 signs are posted a mile further
north at the US 40 exit.
(Eric Lasher)
The current Southern Terminus of the Mason-Dixon Link of PA Turnpike 43
is at Gans Road (Exit 2). The future southern terminus will be at
the WV line, when the WV section of the Mon-Fayette Expressway is finished.
The overall southern terminus of the two state highway will be Interstate
68 near Exit 10 at Cheat Lake.
