The Northern Terminus of PA 417 is at PA 8 in Cherry Tree, Venango County.  There is another Cherry Tree in Indiana County, home of PA 580's end.  That Cherry Tree is named for the cherry tree that served as the survey marker for the borders of Indiana, Clearfield and Cambria Counties.

The Southern Terminus of PA 417 is at US 322 in Franklin.
