PA 17

West End: Blain
East End: Liverpool

For nearly two decades, there were two route 17's in PA.  The Northern PA 17 in Erie County ran from I-90 Exit 10A East into New York. In 2000, that PA 17 was replaced by Interstate 86.  Leaving the older southern PA 17 as the only 17 in Pennsylvania.  The Western Terminus of this route is at PA 274 in Blain.  Tim Reichard provides the photos and narration of this termini.

PA 17's western terminus at the stop sign in Blain. PA 274 East is straight ahead, PA 274 West turns right at stop sign.

PA 274 signs a few feet behind the END PA 17 sign.

The intersection of PA 17 and PA 274, complete with little white sign for END SR 17.

The view from PA 274 East.

Chris Curley sends in the Eastern Terminus of PA 17 in Liverpool. US 11/15 intersects PA 17. A very key route is 131 miles to the North, NY 17 (Future I-86). Apparently, many travelers get PA 17 confused with its Northern neighbor hence the PENNA tag.  Chris took this photo in 1999 while US 11/15 was under construction.  Tim Reichard visited the same intersection in December of 2001 and submitted the photo below.

These shields were installed in September of  2001 when the US 11/US 15 widening was nearing completion.
