PA 156

North End: Shelocta
South End: Avonmore

The Northern Terminus of PA 156 is at US 422 in Shelocta.  What is odd that for the Northern most 10 miles of PA 156 is multiplexed with PA 56.  PA 56 continues east on US 422 while PA 156 ends.

Even stranger is that there is no mention of PA 56 during this multiplex until this intersection with US 422.

shows signage from PA 981 South.  Don't be fooled, the US Shields are incorrect, but they sure make this intersection slightly unique.  Bruce took these photos in 1998, so the Commonwealth may have replaced them by now.  To get a more in depth perspective of the intersection, visit here.
