Western Terminus



OH 872, a 4 lane connector between OH 7 and a bridge that crosses the Ohio River into Moundsville, West Virginia, is not only the highest numbered state route in Ohio, but is also one of the shortest at 0.6 mile in length. The western end of OH 872 is at OH 7, south of Shadyside. There is no END signage present for OH 872 here.

The bridge that carries OH 872 across the Ohio River can been seen on the far left side of this picture, which features an OH 872 exit sign on southbound OH 7, 0.5 mile from the interchange.

Eastern Terminus



This is the lone eastbound OH 872 reassurance marker, complemented by a TO WV 2 marker. Upon crossing into West Virginia, OH 872 turns into an un-numbered connector that meets WV 2 at the end of the bridge in the town of Moundsville.

The overhead WELCOME TO WEST VIRGINIA sign on the bridge marks the end of eastbound OH 872.
