About OH 833

OH 833 is Ohio's newest state route, commissioned in December 2003 following the re-routing of US 33 onto a new alignment toward Ravenswood, West Virginia. From the US 33 interchange with OH 7/OH 124, US 33 follows OH 7 for a few miles, then travels on a new alignment through southeastern Meigs County to the Ravenswood Bridge, formerly designated OH 824. Into West Virginia, US 33 joins with WV 2 for a short trip over to I-77, then multiplexes with I-77 for 13 miles back to the original alignment in Ripley. Meanwhile, the former US 33 into Pomeroy to the Ohio River bridge connecting Pomeroy with Mason, West Virginia has been designated as OH 833. The former alignment of US 33 through West Virginia has become an extension of WV 62, which formerly ended itself at the east end of the former US 33 crossing of the Ohio.

Northern Terminus

Following a short multiplex with OH 124, OH 833 arrives at its northern terminus at the interchange between US 33, OH 7, and OH 124 just north of Pomeroy.

These two photos showcase the newly erected guide signs on US 33 West/OH 7 South approaching the interchange with OH 124/OH 833. US 33 splits off of OH 7 via a right turn onto the ramp preceding the overpasses, while OH 7 North continues straight ahead, joined by OH 124 West. The ramp to OH 124 East and the beginning of OH 833 is accessible by a left turn just after the overpasses.
