Ohio Route 687 |
|
Western Terminus |
|
OH 687 has its western terminus at OH 241, northeast of Massillon. Until 1989, OH 687 continued west for another 2.5 miles along Fulton Road to OH 236. At that time, OH 687 was truncated back to OH 241, and the stretch of Fulton Road between OH 236 and OH 241 was turned back to local control. |

This scene shows Fulton Road West at the I-77 / US 62 interchange, which marks the starting point of OH 687 West. This interchange, including the ramps and the overpass, was reconstruted in 2002 and early 2003 as a
part of a project to widen I-77 to six lanes through the vicinity. At the time Brian shot this photo in March 2003, the ramp to I-77 South / US 62 West was closed. As the first photo shows, in August 2003, the interchange reconstruction has been completed. |

Just west of I-77 / US 62 is the first trailblazer for OH 687 West. |

Here is the new sign gantry in place on I-77 North / US 62 East at the OH 687 interchange. The guide sign for the exit only features Fulton Road text. For
some unknown reason, the OH 687 shield was affixed to the top of the sign rather than placed squarely on the exit sign. US 62 splits off from I-77 just 0.25
mile north of OH 687 at a trumpet interchange. |

|
A like exit sign featuring an OH 687 shield attached to a guide sign with Fulton Road text can be found on the gantry at the OH 687 interchange on I-77 South.
The exit ramp to OH 687 diverges prior to the US 62 exit in the southbound direction, and in fact US 62 West merges in with the OH 687 off-ramp for a short distance
before splitting to join I-77 South. |
