Ohio Route 331 |
|
Western Terminus |
|
The western terminus of OH 331 is at US 22 in Piedmont. There is not an END sign present at this intersection.
The first reassurance marker for OH 331 East is unique (at least to date) for Ohio. In many states,
including Pennsylvania and West Virginia, newer guide signs and directional plates feature the first
letter of the direction in a larger sized font than the remainder of the word. Ohio has begun to follow
this practice on guide signs, but not on directional plates for shields. However, for this OH 331 East marker,
which was erected in 2003, the directional plate does follow the newer practice. Whether this is the beginning
of a trend for directional plates in Ohio or an exception to the rule remains to be seen. |

Eastern Terminus |
|
The eastern terminus of OH 331 is at US 40 west of St. Clairsville, amidst what amounts to a "broken" diamond interchange
off of I-70 (Exit 213). I-70 passes over US 40 just west of the intersection, and under OH 331 just north of it. Consequently,
the entirety of Exit 213 consists of two partial interchanges, where access to I-70 West and from I-70 East is courtesy of US 40,
and access to I-70 East and from I-70 West is possible through the use of OH 331. In the midst of all this, however, there is no
END signage present for OH 331 here, either. |

The first OH 331 West trailblazer is in place right after the on-ramp to I-70 East, and immediately before the overpass of I-70. |

A TO EAST I-70 shield accompanies the marker which points to the start of OH 331 West on US 40 East. |
