Northern Terminus |

| The
northern terminus of OH 65 is at I-280 (Exit 10A) in Toledo, immediately
north of the existing I-280 crossing of the Maumee River, the Craig
Memorial Drawbridge. Currently, work is well underway on the most
expensive project in the history of the
Ohio Department of Transportation,
the Maumee River Crossing, a
cable-stayed bridge that will carry six lanes of I-280 traffic nearly 130
feet above the center of the Maumee River. Once completed, the
drawbridge will be open for use by surface street traffic. At that
time, OH 65 will be extended across the drawbridge to the Front Street
interchange with I-280 (Exit 9), which will serve as the new northern
terminus of OH 65. In the fall of 2004, with widening of I-280
completed south of the Maumee River Crossing, new exit signs were erected
for the Front Street interchange identifying it as OH 65...although the
extension of OH 65 to that point will not be taking place until 2007. PHOTO # 1: Sean Lyons, July 5, 2002. |
