Ohio Route 421

OH 423 >

Western Terminus: US 42/US 224, W of Lodi, Medina County. | Eastern Terminus: US 42/US 224, NE of Lodi, Medina County.

OH 421 follows a former alignment of US 42/US 224 through Lodi.  When the four-lane divided Lodi by-pass was opened in 1959, US 42 and US 224 were concurrently routed onto that, and the OH 421 designation was born.  Both endpoints of OH 421 are also the respective ends of the US 42/US 224 multiplex.

Western Terminus

The western terminus of OH 421 is at a four-ramp parclo interchange with US 42/US 224 west of Lodi.

These three pictures showcase the progression of guide signs on US 42 South/US 224 West leading up to the western end of OH 421.  As featured in the first two photos, at 1.25 miles and 0.25 mile from the interchange are overhead diagrammatic signs showing that US 42 South traffic must stay in the left lane, while those wishing to stay on US 224 West or access OH 421 East will need to be in the right lane.  The third photo shows the gantry present at the exit itself, with the lane distribution signage.

These are the OH 421 and US 224 shields, and corresponding destination sign, present along US 224 West as it follows the off-ramp from US 42 South.  OH 421 East begins to the left here.

Eastern Terminus

OH 421's eastern terminus is also at US 42/US 224, this time northeast of Lodi at a five-ramp parclo interchange.

In these three pictures is the sequence of exit signs along US 224 West leading up to the interchange for US 42 North and the beginning of OH 421 West.
