Interstate 490

Western Terminus: I-90, Cleveland, Cuyahoga County. | Eastern Terminus: I-77, Cleveland, Cuyahoga County.

Western Terminus

The western terminus of the short I-490 freeway is at the interchange between I-90 (Exit 170C) and I-71. This western endpoint of I-490 does not feature any signage marking it as the terminus.

In these two photos, Doug shows the start of I-490 East as it splits off from I-90 East. The next exit ramp to the right off of I-90 East leads to the start of I-71 South. Amidst this stack interchange, there is no direct access from I-490 West to I-90 East, nor from I-90 West to I-490 East.

Eastern Terminus

The eastern terminus of I-490 is at I-77 (Exit 161B). While the right two lanes of I-490 East exit to I-77, the left two lanes default to an intersection with E. 55th St.

The sign truss shown here stands on I-77 North near the I-490 interchange. Toledo is used as the control city for I-490 West, the same city used as the destination for I-90 as it treks through the western suburbs of Cleveland.
