Interstate 475

Southern Terminus: I-75 (Exit 192), Perrysburg. | Eastern Terminus: I-75 (Exit 204), Toledo.

Southern Terminus

The southern terminus of I-475 is at a semi-directional "Y" interchange with I-75 in Perrysburg. This is the perspective from southbound I-75 at the exit ramp to I-475. The interchange can be seen in the background. The signage on the gantry is all new, and reflective. US 23, which traverses the Toledo area on a series of multiplexes involving US 20, I-75, and I-475, enters this interchange on southbound I-75 and departs it via northbound I-475.

Orientation Change

There is currently no coverage of the point where I-475 changes direction.

If you can get any photos of the point where I-475 changes from a north / south to an east / west highway, at the northern end of its multiplex with US 23 near Sylvania, please contact Dan.

Eastern Terminus

I-475 comes back around to meet I-75 at Exit 204 in Toledo. Here is the first mention of the upcoming northern I-75 interchange on eastbound I-475, 2 miles away from this point.

This sign bridge shows the lane distributions at the I-75 split, 1.25 miles ahead. This point is also located 0.25 mile from the Central Avenue interchange, the last one on I-475 before I-75. Central Avenue is also OH 120, but there is no mention of OH 120 on any of the exit signs for Central Avenue from I-475.

O.5 mile from the terminus of eastbound I-475 is another sign gantry with lane distribution signage. The on-ramp from Central Avenue forms a fourth lane, which becomes an exit only lane for US 24, the first exit on I-75 south of the I-475 interchange. That is why an I-75 exit number (203B) is attached to the sign.

This is the final sign truss on eastbound I-475, at the split for I-75. This interchange is currently being analyzed for possible upgrades in the future. Please click on the first link in the "Links" section below for more information.

Motorists are greeted by this sign gantry upon the convergence of all the ramps that form westbound I-475. The right lane leaves the freeway in 0.75 mile for the Central Avenue (OH 120) exit, and the right-center lane exits the freeway in approximately 2 miles for the OH 51 exit, so plenty of haphazard maneuvering occurs in this stretch of I-475.

Here is the first I-475 shield in the westbound direction, 1.25 miles west of the I-75 interchange, and just west of the Central Avenue interchange.

On northbound I-75 stands this sign gantry at the OH 51 interchange (Exit 203A), which supports a graphical sign showing the lane maneuvers possible at the I-475 interchange, 1 mile ahead. Note that this exit sign, along with all other ones at the interchange, denote I-475 as a connector to US 23, which intersects I-475 6 miles to the west.

This sign truss is on northbound I-75, 0.25 mile from the I-475 interchange, and just beyond the US 24 interchange. This is in the midst of a sharp curve that is denoted as a no passing zone by solid white lines between the lanes. Once the no passing zone stops, travelers only have 500 feet to get into their proper lane before the I-75 / I-475 split.

Here is the overhead lane distribution signage on northbound I-75 at the exit ramp for I-475. Note that while 2 lanes are denoted for I-475 west and I-75 north, respectively, the right-center lane also permits traffic to exit onto I-475, so there are actually 3 lanes for the exit ramp to I-475.
(PHOTO # 9: Sean Lyons | November 3, 2002)

From the perspective of southbound I-75, this is the sign gantry located 1 mile from the I-475 interchange, featuring new, reflective signage. The interchange for Willys and Jeep Parkways (Exit 205A) is located just north of the I-475 exit, and in fact, an exit ramp provides access to these roadways on the ramp from eastbound I-475 to northbound I-75.
(PHOTO # 10: Sean Lyons | November 3, 2002)

At the exit for Willys and Jeep Parkways off of southbound I-75 is this sign truss, 0.5 mile from the I-475 exit. Merging in on the right side is the on-ramp from Berdan Avenue, which creates a third lane for southbound I-75.
(PHOTO # 11: Don Hargraves | August 2002)

Upon merging, the third lane promptly becomes an exit only lane for I-475, as this southbound I-75 sign bridge indicates. This point is 0.25 mile from the I-475 interchange.
