US 52

Nationally, US 52 is one of those odd diagonal routes that in some states signed as 'North/South' and in others 'East/West'.  In North Carolina, US 52 is a 'North/South' route.   Highway 52 runs through the central piedmont.  Running from the edge of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Mount Airy southwards through Winston-Salem and through the textile and furniture towns of Lexington and Salisbury until heading into South Carolina south of Wadesboro.

US 52 has one bannered route within North Carolina - Business US 52 in Mount Airy.  The main highway is known as By-Pass US 52.
