US 264
US 264 is yet another one of "North Carolina's Own"
US Highways. It runs from the eastern outskirts of Raleigh to just
before crossing the Croatan Sound in Manns Harbor. It is the main
route for Raleigh east to Wilson then to Greenville and finally to Washington.
From Washington to its end in Manns Harbor, US 264 is the back road to
the Outer Banks a more isolated two lane alternative than its parent route,
US 64, to the North. Although the highway may be one of the shortest
US highways in North Carolina, it does feature numerous Alternate or Business
Routes. If you are able to document the business or alternate routes,
please fire me an e-mail.

A unique twist to the terminus is that the 'END' US 264 is placed on a
guide sign.

of Zebulon. The designation begins at NC 39 only a few yards south
of the off ramp from the US 264 freeway. That's Five County Stadium
in the background, home of the Carolina
