NC 87 continues North into Virginia as VA 87.  VA 87 ends at US 220 in Ridgeway.  Chris Curley took the 4 shots below.


This is the NC/VA line crossing for NC 87.  However, there is a very interesting story just a few hundred feet behind this photo.

In this photo, you see the last NC 87 shield but also an END NC 14 shield.  NC 87 makes and crosses into Virginia but NC 14 falls short.  In fact 5 miles to the south in Eden, NC 14 first joins up with NC 87 why not make NC 14 end there?

The Southern Terminus is at 211 in Southport.  The Southeast NC coast seems to be excellent at signing ends.  NC 133, 179, 211, and 904 all have 'END' signs posted.  Also, US 76 and 421 are well signed.
