Since this site began, there has always been a question of whether or not
NC 82 - after intersecting with NC 217 in Erwin - continued north on NC
217 to end with NC 217 at US 421/NC 55 north of downtown Erwin. For
years, the intersection of US 421, NC 55, and NC 217 looked as it did below
with no NC 82 signs.

However, sometime between May of 2006 and June of 2007, NCDOT officially
signed NC 82 to share the Northern End of NC 217 at US 421 and NC 55.

Although there is not an 'END' sign present for either NC 82 and NC 217,
both designations are signed along US 421 and NC 55 and through Erwin.

The Eastern Terminus of NC 82 is at US 13 near Falcon. There is not
an 'END' sign located here either.
