NC 615

North End: NC/VA line on Mackay Island South End: Currituck Ferry Launch (Knotts Island)

Bonus Coverage:

Alex Nitzman sends in this photo of Virginia Secondary Route 615 in Virginia Beach.  Upon crossing the state line into Virginia, NC 615 becomes VA Secondary 615.

The Northern Terminus of NC 615 is at the state line on Mackay Island.  Although an 'END' NC 615 sign is not present here, an 'END' NC Bike 4, the "North Line Trace" route, does sit here.  At the eastern terminus of NC Bike 4, at the Virginia Line on NC 93 in Alleghany County, there is also an 'END' Bike 4.

NC 615 starts at the state line.

And only a few hundred feet further is the first South NC 615 shield.

The Southern Terminus of NC 615 ends at the Ferry Launch for the Currituck Sound Free Ferry. No End sign was present.  The first NC 615 shield, posted at the end of the Ferry roadway and parking lot, sits where NC 615 begins. The actual ramp for the ferry is about 50 feet behind this sign installation.  The shield is actually located on the Knotts Island landing.  There is not one hint of NC 615 on NC 168.
