NC 56

West End: Butner

East End: Near Castalia

Like NC 5 and 114, NC 56 just ends. Jimmy Storey sends in the Western Terminus of this route in Butner. After crossing I-85 at Exit 191, NC 56 continues for about two miles to this point. Directly across from this sign is a 'BEGIN' NC 56 shield.

Camp Butner Military Reservation is nearby.

Unfortunately, the Eastern Terminus of NC 56 at NC 58 near Castalia is not as well marked. Thomas Cole who took the three photos from this terminus informs me that there is no mention of the end of NC 56 or the intersection with NC 58 approaching the terminus.

Here is the Junction NC 56 marker as seen from NC 58 West. The white vehicle that is nearly perpendicular to the highway is at the end of NC 56.
