Jimmy Storey sends along a photo from the Western Terminus of NC 55 in Durham. This is near the I-85 interchange with NC 55.
The Eastern Terminus of NC 55 is at the Rattan Bay/Neuse River town of Oriental. Thomas Cole visited this area in May of 2002. NC 55 ends at the bridge carrying Oriental Road over Greens Creek. Oriental Road heads toward Janeiro Road and NC 306 from here.
NC 55 ends at the edge of Oriental. Here, on the Oriental Side
of the Greens Creek Bridge, is the first West NC 55 marker as Thomas heads
into town.
