The North Carolina End of NC 49 is at the VA Line in Virgilina.  The end of the double yellow line is the state line.

Looking from Virginia into North Carolina.  NC 49 continues as VA 49 to US 360 northeast of Burkeville.  If you can obtain a photo of this end, please e-mail me.  NC 49 is actually multiplexed with NC 96 when crossing into Virginia.  Below, the first NC 49/96 shields inside the state line.

The multiplex is very brief and both designations continue into Virginia.

The North Carolina end of Hwy 49 South is at Lake Wylie.

This is another photo of the bridge as SC 49 crosses into the Tar Heel State to become NC 49.  Note: During the Summer of 2001, the old Buster Boyd Bridge had been replaced by the newer span.  Construction began immediately to tear down the old bridge and replace it with another two lane span allowing for four lanes of traffic to cross over Lake Wylie.  The dual span four lane bridge should be opened in 2003.

NC Hwy 49 continues in to South Carolina as SC 49 to its end in Laurens, SC.  If you can get a photo of this ending, please send me an e-mail.
