East End: Pilands Crossroads

(Adam Prince) The Western Terminus of NC 461 is at NC 561 in Saint John. As you approach the crossroads from NC 461 West, a left turn puts you on NC 561 East, continuing straight is NC 561 West, a right turn is Menola-Saint John Road. There is not an 'END' sign present at the terminus.

(Adam Prince) The Eastern Terminus of NC 461 is at the entrance to the Nucor Steel plant at Pilands Crossroads.

Not only is there an 'END' sign present at the terminus, a 'BEGIN' West NC 461 shield is posted also. Another state highway, NC 149, ends at an industrial entrance. The Northern Terminus of NC 149 outside of Plymouth is located at the entrance to a Weyerhauser mill.
