NC 345

North End: Manteo
South End: Wanchese

(Adam Prince/Brian LeBlanc)
Here is the Northern End of NC 345 at US 64 in Manteo.  If you were to bare right on to 64 East and travel for about another 2 miles and over the bridge, you will come to the US 64 Eastern Terminus.

This junction sign, which is the same style used for NC 400, is found on US 64/264 West at the Northern Terminus of NC 345.

Another example of the white on brown signage used at this intersection.  This is what the terminus of NC 345 North looked like prior to the summer of 2002.  With the opening of the Virginia Dare Bridge, the intersection with US 64 has changed.  Also, US 264 no longer runs through here.

(Adam Froehilg, October 2002)

The white and brown signs still remain.  The intersection has been changed to a four-way with modern signals.  The new bridge is straight ahead.

This photo looks at the first (and only) northbound NC 345 shield in existence. The photo was taken just north of Wanchese, about 150 feet north of the last southbound shield..

Alex also took a photo of what possibly is the Southern Terminus of NC 345.  The below photo is of the last South NC 345 shield before the town limits of Wanchese.  Alex writes: I am not sure if the road ends at the village line or where The Lane and Mill Landing Road converge.  Alex also provides information on the above photo: Mill Landing Road (what NC 345 follows) is off to the left, "The Lane" comes in from the right. The road going to right heads to a marina complex. If you look closely at the horizon you can see Bodie Island Lighthouse (sad to say that this is the only photo I have of it). The below photo is of the last standing NC 345 South Shield.
