West End: Patterson
East End: NC 89 near Moores Springs

The Western Terminus of NC 268 is at US 321 in Patterson. The 4-lane divided stretch of US 321 used to end at this point.  It now, as you can see, stretches beyond her for about another 3 or 4 miles.  There are plans to widen US 321 to 4 lanes all the way up to Blowing Rock and Boone.  With the mountainous climb that one traverses on US 321 to get to the two destinations, the widening project will be a difficult task to complete.

In 2004, the Eastern Terminus of NC 268 was moved four miles from NC 66 to NC 89 near Moores Springs.  There is not an 'END' sign present at the new terminus.

However, NC 268 is posted at the new terminus as shown above.

The Eastern Terminus of NC 268 is at NC 66 about 4 miles north of Gap.  Mark makes note of the Winston-Salem Journal newspaper box standing without any civilization in sight.
