In 2004, the Northern Terminus of NC 22 was pushed back about seven miles
to NC 62 in Climax. NC 22 had ended at US 421
near Pleasant Garden, but the construction and completion of the I-85 bypass
almost on top of the old terminus caused the truncation.

The first NC 22 South marker includes a 'BEGIN' sign.
Historical Northern Terminus:
(Mark Clifton)
Prior to 2004, the northern terminus of NC 22 was at this location, US
421 near Pleasant Garden. Because of the construction of the I-85
Greensboro Bypass, by 2002 this terminus was blocked by construction.
It wasn't until at least 2004 that the northern terminus moved from this
location to Climax.

NC 22's Southern Terminus is at NC 2 in Southern Pines/Pinehurst.
If you would take a left on to NC 2 East, you would come to NC
2's Eastern Terminus at US 1.
