South End: Lake Junaluska

(Matt Craig) The Northern Terminus of NC 209 is at US 25/70 in Hot Springs. There is not an 'END' sign present. The route is signed well on the multiplexed US Highway. However, no indication of US 25/70 is given on NC 209. Straight ahead and to Asheville is US 25 South/US 70 East. A left turn and towards Newport, TN is US 25 North/US 70 West.

At the immediate beginning of NC 209 is this warning to truckers. I can attest to the winding highway NC 209 is as it assents the Spring Creek Mountains. It is a very curvy, yet immensely scenic highway through Pigsah National Forest.

(Matt Craig) The Southern Terminus of NC 209 is at US 19/23/74 in Lake Junaluska. Business US 23 is straight ahead while the US 19/23/74 freeway on ramp is to the right.

This is looking at the beginning of NC 209 North from US 23 Business. It is from the same intersection in the photo above. There is not an 'END' sign present at this terminus.
