NC 197

North End: Tennessee State Line near Poplar
South End: East of Jupiter

A bullet ridden North Carolina State Line greets you at the Northern Terminus of NC 197 at the Tennessee state line near Poplar.

The smaller Tennessee State Line sign seems to have been spared from the vandalism.   Although, this photo does not show it too well.  There is a scenic view pull off at the state line.  The TN Line sign is located at the pulloff.

NC 197 continues as TN Secondary Route 395 upon crossing the border.  Matthew grabbed this photo of the first 395 sign but says a NC 197 sign is nowhere to be seen after entering into the Tar Heel State.

The Southern Terminus of NC 197 is not as isolated.  It is located at an interchange with US 19/23 east of Jupiter, the town not the planet!  There is not an 'END' sign located at the terminus.  The above photo shows the first NC 197 North shield.

NC 197 has one of the few remaining unpaved stretches of primary road in the state.  This sign located at the beginning of NC 197 alludes to this.
