NC 14

North End:  North of Eden, a few yards short of the VA Line
South End: Reidsville

Many thanks to Chris Curley for getting photos of both ends of NC 14.

The Northern Terminus of NC 14 is quite bizarre. It ends while being routed with NC 87 just shy of the VA line. Chris Curley who took both photos below reports that North NC 14 is co-signed with NC 87 North for about 5 miles and vice versa for NC 14 South.  NC 14 hooks up with NC 87 in Eden.  The nice thing about this oddity is that both 'BEGIN' & 'END' signs are present.

As you can see, NC 14 North ends along NC 87.  Chris tells me that this is the last NC 87 North Sign in North Carolina and that the VA Line is about 1,000 feet ahead.  My only guess as to why there is not an END NC 87 sign here is that NC 87 continues into Virginia as VA 87.

This is the BEGIN South NC 14 and first NC 87 shields.  So technically could one put a BEGIN with Highway 87??

The Southern Terminus of NC 14 is at US 29 (Future I-785) in Reidsville.  Chris tells me that NC 14 is multiplexed with US 158 for its last few miles.
