The Northern Terminus of NC 104 about five miles north of Mt. Airy.
The 104 numeration does not continue in this case as the route turns into
VA Secondary Route 773 here.

And just a little while later, the first NC 104 shield.
(Matthew Craig)
The Southern Terminus of NC 104 is in Mt. Airy at NC
103. There is not an 'END' sign present at the terminus.
(Mike Roberson)
Unlike the first 104 shield southbound, there is a directional banner 'NORTH'
for the first NC 104 shield.
(Mike Roberson)
In the past, the terminus of NC 104 was not well marked on either NC 103
or NC 104. This appears to have changed. This NC 104 North
shield is located on NC 103 West.
(Mike Roberson)
The beginning of NC 104 is also well signed along NC 103 East.
