Southern Split

The southern split of US 49 into US 49E and US 49W is at an interchange in Yazoo City. The interchange also serves as the northern terminus of the Redwood to Yazoo City section of MS 3. This is the sign along US 49 1/2 mile south of the interchange. As part of the realignment of US 49W, this trumpet interchange was built right next to an existing rail line, requiring the unique use of bridges to get the interchange in. Northern Split
