Historic Western Terminus #1 - Clayton Village

The first historic western terminus of this section of MS 182 was at the US 82 Clayton Village interchange. At this interchange, the US 82 freeway ended. From here US 82 followed it's original routing west through Starkville. MS 182 was not signed on US 82 (now MS 182) eastbound. Photo by Robert Lee.

This is the new signage at the above spot. There is no advance warning for the interchange in either direction on US 82/MS 12/MS 25. Photo by Robert Lee on 10/31/2004.

The signage has since been changes to divert Mississippi State University traffic to the MS 12 Exit on US 82. Photo by Robert Lee on 4/29/2007.

Signage along US 82/MS 12/MS 25 EB. MDOT roadway design made an intentional goof on this sign by showing MS 182 East instead of just MS 182. There is no advanced warning signs for this interchange. Photo by Robert Lee on 10/31/2004.

Historic Western Terminus #2 - West Starkville

The new US 82 bypass around Starkville, but not all at once. The section between Adaton and MS 25 did not open with the rest of the bypass. Because of this, US 82 was temporarily routed along MS 25 between the US 82 bypass and the 2-lane US 82, now MS 182. The temporary routing created a new western terminus, albeit a temporary one, for MS 182 at the MS 25/MS 182 interchange. This is the signage on MS 25 NB. The US 82 shield and the Winona sign were added on as temporary signs. By the end of 2004, the rest of the US 82 was opened and MS 182 was extended to its permanent western terminus at US 82 west of Adaton. Photo by Robert Lee on 10/31/2004.

These are the shields on the off-ramp from MS 25 to MS 182. A US 82 shield was temporarily attached over the top of the MS 182 shield. Photo by Robert Lee on 10/31/2004.

This is the signage on current US 82 (future MS 182) EB. When US 82 is opened, the US 82 signs will be removed. Photo by Robert Lee on 10/31/2004.

The stop sign on Old Macon Road. The sign is rather useless since the intersection is now only a 90-degree turn. The US 82/US 45 bridge is in the background to the lefft of the barricade. Photo by Robert Lee on 4/2/2006.
