The northern terminus of the Redwood to Yazoo City section of MS 3 is at the US 49/US 49E/US 49W interchange in Yazoo City. Th interchange also serves as the new southern end of the split of US 49 into US 49E and US 49W.
This is the sign along US 49 1/2 mile south of the interchange. As part of the realignment of US 49W, this trumpet interchange was built right next to an existing rail line, requiring the unique use of bridges to get the interchange in. Notice that the US 49W SB to US 49 SB ramp joins in between the NB and SB lanes of US 49. Photo taken by Robert Lee on 1/31/2005.

The actual split of US 49 into US 49E and US 49W. The sign for US 49W/MS 3 used to have 2 right arrows, but the one on the left side has been "greened out." Origially, MS 3 crossed over what was then only US 49E and looped back down to a level intersection. Photo taken by Robert Lee on 1/31/2005.

This is the view of the interchange on US 49E SB. The routes and control cities are the reverse of the similar signs on US 49 NB. Notice the rail line to the west of the highway. Photo taken by Robert Lee on 1/31/2005.
