Scenic Routes
Mississippi's Scenic Routes are a series of routes separate from regular MDOT highways that provide access to four Army Corps of Engineers lakes in northern Mississippi. The scenic routes are not full state highways. They are co-signed with roads maintained by MDOT, the federal government, and local governments. They are numbered after existing state highways and are co-signed with their parent route for some length along their routes. Also, the scenic routes are not signed with cardinal directions. For the purposes of this site, they are all considered north-south routes. The scenic routes each start on I-55, then end on I-55 at a point north of the start. These scenic routes are not to be confused with MS 5, a regular MDOT highway that is designated as a scenic route.
