Michigan Route 64

Southern Terminus: WI State Line, south of Marenisco, Gogebic County. | Northern Terminus: US 45, Ontonagon, Ontonagon County.

Southern Terminus

The southern terminus of M-64 is at the Wisconsin State Line in a heavily forested region south of Marenisco. Continuing on into the Badger State is not a state highway, but rather County Trunk Highway (CTH) B. The border is marked by the sudden disapperance of the pavement markings, along with a CTH-B marker.

While there is no M-64 ENDS signage southbound, there is an END CTH-B marker northbound just before the roadway crosses from Wisconsin into Michigan. At the state line itself, there is a WELCOME TO MICHIGAN sign in place.

Just a little farther down the road is the first reassurance marker for M-64 North.

Northern Terminus

The northern terminus of M-64 is at a downtown Ontonagon intersection that also serves as the northern terminus of US 45. An interesting attribute of this intersection is that the blinker here is attached to a mast arm, as opposed to the typical Michigan standard span wire.

Here is the perspective of M-64's northern terminus from US 45 North, as it too comes to an end.

This close-up of the US 45 North approach reveals that there are additional shields at the intersection itself pointing toward the respective starts of M-64 South and US 45 South. Lake Superior is just behind the large building on the left side of the photo.
