Michigan Route 45

Western Terminus: US 31, 8 miles south of Grand Haven | Length: 24.4 miles | Eastern Terminus: I-196 (Exit 75), Grand Rapids

Notes

M-45 occupies what was once M-50 between Agnew and downtown Grand Rapids. When M-50 was truncated to I-96 in southeastern Kent County in 1964, this iteration of M-45 was born.

Western Terminus
West M-45 comes to an end at US 31 in the hamlet of Agnew, between Holland and Grand Haven. US 31 in this area is a four lane divided highway. As indicated by the right arrow underneath the South US 31 shield to the left of the M-45 ENDS sign here, a "Michigan Left" maneuver is required for accessing south US 31 from west M-45. (For more information on Michigan Lefts, please visit Chris Bessert's Michigan Left Turn web page.)

Eastern Terminus
The eastern terminus of M-45 is at I-196's Exit 75, west of downtown Grand Rapids. M-45 used to continue east along Fulton Street into downtown Grand Rapids, but was truncated to this interchange in 1994. Fulton Street is still under the jurisdiction of MDOT, but is now an unsigned state highway. However, the guide sign on the east I-196 overpass in the background still notes M-45 as heading east onto Fulton Street.
