M-39

LENGTH: 16.7 miles

SOUTHERN TERMINUS: I-75 @ Exit #41, Lincoln Park

Here is the M-39 ENDS assembly at the southern terminus in Lincoln Park. For all practical purposes, the terminus is considered to be at I-75.  However, this sign is actually at the first light southeast of I-75, Lafayette Boulevard, about 500 feet past I-75.  State maintenance stops at this unusual point and does not go all the way to M-85 (about 0.3 miles beyond this point), because of a parking lot in the median of Southfield Rd. between these two points, which does not meet MDOT specifications.

This is the first northbound M-39 trailblazer. You can see the I-75 overpass in the background. At the time this photograph was taken, major reconstruction was taking place in this area on northbound I-75, including rebuilding of all overpasses in this stretch.

NORTHERN TERMINUS: M-10, Southfield

At the northern end of M-39 at M-10, an M-39 ENDS sign has been erected on each side of the northbound lanes. A side note here: the assembly on the left side has been present for a couple of years, but the one on the right side has only been there since April 2002.
