The Western Terminus of M-72 is at M-22 in the hamlet of Empire in southwestern Leelanau County, not too from Lake Michigan.

Eastern Terminus


 
M-72's cross-peninsular journey comes to a halt at its Eastern Terminus at US 23 in Harrisville.  Beyond the traffic signal is Main Street, which continues for 4 blocks before coming to an end along the Lake Huron shore line.
