Michigan Route 63

M-64 >

Southern Terminus: M-139, Scottdale, Berrien County. | Northern Terminus: I-196/US 31, NW of Coloma, Berrien County.

M-63 was designated in 1986 along the former US 33 through the Benton Harbor-St. Joseph area after it was truncated to US 12 in Niles that year.

Southern Terminus

The southern terminus of M-63 is at M-139 in Scottdale.  Until July 2003, M-63 met US 31 at this intersection.  When the northward extension of the US 31 freeway through Berrien County was completed at that time, M-139 was extended southeastward, while M-63 maintained the status quo.  I-94 is located less than 2 miles to the northwest of this intersection.  Emergency I-94, which is identified with an orange "Emergency" plate as shown here, is designated along a series of roadways that parallel I-94 all the way from the Indiana border to near Chelsea to provide a signed alternate route that can be used when I-94 is shut down.

Northern Terminus

M-63's northern terminus is at I-196/US 31 (Exit 7) northwest of Coloma, and less than a mile south of the Berrien-Van Buren County Line.  The diamond interchange with I-196/US 31 is about 2 blocks to the east of this intersection.  County Designated Highway A-2 begins straight ahead.
