The southern terminus of M-63 is at M-139
in Scottdale. Until July 2003, M-63 met US 31 at this
intersection. When the northward extension of the US 31 freeway
through Berrien County was completed at that time, M-139 was extended
southeastward, while M-63 maintained the status quo.
I-94 is located
less than 2 miles to the northwest of this intersection.
Emergency I-94, which is identified with an orange "Emergency" plate
as shown here, is designated along a series of roadways that parallel
I-94 all the way from the Indiana border to near Chelsea to provide a
signed alternate route that can be used when I-94 is shut down. PHOTO # 1: Duane Warner, June 17, 2004. |
