M-42's western terminus is at M-37 south of Sherman.  This endpoint is located about 0.5 mile north of the eastern junction of M-37 and M-115.

Eastern Terminus


 
The eastern terminus of M-42 is at M-66 north of Lake City, the county seat of Missaukee County.
