Northern Terminus |

Isolated from the rest of civilization,
M-37's Northern Terminus is located at the tip of the Old Mission
Peninsula. Just a few blocks north of the junction of M-37 and
US 31/M-72 in
Traverse City sits this M-37 North reassurance marker with a
black-on-yellow sign warning that the route reaches its conclusion 18
miles ahead. PHOTO # 1: Barry Camp, 10/08/2006. |

These two pictures show the actual end of
M-37 at a cul-du-sac adjacent to a parking lot
serving the Old Mission Lighthouse. There is not only an M-37 ENDS
shield assembly at the endpoint, but also a "Road Ends" sign situated at the back
of the loop to remind visitors that there is no place to go but back
the other way. PHOTOS # 2 - 3: Dan Garnell, 8/27/2005. |

The first M-37 South reassurance marker
does not appear until about two miles south of the cul-du-sac. PHOTO # 4: Dan Garnell, 8/27/2005. |
