Southern Terminus

The Southern Terminus of M-30 is at a four-ramp parclo interchange with US 10 in Sanford, just east of the point where the Tittabawassee River passes underneath US 10. Phil points out that where the Park & Ride lot exists now is part the original alignment of M-30 through here prior to the coming of the US 10 freeway in the early 1960s.

Historic Southern Terminus: 1928-1962

Prior to the coming of the US 10 freeway, M-30 continued south of Sanford along Meridian Rd. before coming to an end at M-46 on the Gratiot/Saginaw County Line west of Merrill. According to Phil, although M-30 was truncated back to the US 10 freeway in 1962, more than 40 years later, a number of locals still refer to Meridian Rd. as "M-30." This photo shows the historic southern end of M-30, looking south along Meridian Rd. at its intersection with M-46.
