Michigan Route 201

M-203 >

Southern Terminus: M-22, Northport, Leelanau County. | Northern Terminus: Co. Rd. 640, Northport, Leelanau County.

M-201 is a spur route off of M-22 which serves the community of Northport in the northern portion of the Leelanau Peninsula.  This short trunk line has never gone beyond the northern village limit of Northport, so it has never been routed up to Leelanau State Park and the Grand Traverse Lighthouse at the tip of the Leelanau Peninsula.  However, M-201 does provide for a convenient connection between M-22 and Leelanau Co. Rds. 640 and 629 for access to the aforementioned destinations.

Southern Terminus

M-201's southern terminus is at M-22 in the southern end of Northport.  This intersection marks the point where M-22 changes direction, going from "northbound" to "southbound" and vice-versa.

The first M-201 North shield sits snugly along the tree-lined main route through Northport, just north of the M-22 intersection.

Northern Terminus

The northern terminus of M-201 is at the northern village limit of Northport, where it turns into Leelenau Co. Rd. 640.  In fact, a Leelenau Co. Rd. 640 marker stands just about 50 feet behind the M-201 ENDS shield assembly.

Here is the first M-201 South reassurance marker, located just before the village limits of Northport.
