Business Loop I-94 - Benton Harbor/St. Joseph

Western Terminus: I-94, N of Stevensville, Berrien County.
Eastern Terminus: I-94/US 31, E of Benton Harbor, Berrien County.

Brought into existence in the early 1960s, BL I-94 serves two communities that abut not only the coastline of Lake Michigan, but also the banks of the St. Joseph River: Benton Harbor and St. Joseph.

Western Terminus

The Western Terminus of BL I-94 is at I-94 (Exit 23) near Stevensville. There is no BL I-94 ENDS assembly present at this endpoint.

Here is a view of the start of BL I-94 East. The first BL I-94 reassurance marker, which is accompanied by a Lake Michigan Circle Tour marker, is located right in front of the I-94 East overpass.

Eastern Terminus

The Eastern Terminus of BL I-94 is at I-94/US 31 (Exit 33) east of Benton Harbor. The first photo shows the BL I-94 ENDS assembly present at this endpoint, while the second photo shows the I-94 East and I-94 West guide signs located in advance of the split of the ramps to each direction of I-94, respectively. Although this is a partial interchange, it is because three out of four maneuvers are permitted, as opposed to two out of four at the typical partial interchange. Here, BL I-94 East traffic can access either direction of I-94/US 31. However, only I-94 West/US 31 South traffic can exit onto BL I-94 West. There is no possible access from I-94 East/US 31 North to BL I-94 West at this interchange.
