Western Terminus: I-496, Lansing  ¬ 2.3 miles ®  Eastern Terminus: I-496, Lansing

About the Capitol Loop

The Capitol Loop acts as a loop route off of I-496 through downtown Lansing, and has its own unique marker.  It is routed along a series of streets that pass by the Michigan State Capitol Building.

Western Terminus

The western terminus of the Capitol Loop is at I-496 (Exit 5), southwest of downtown Lansing.  At this point, the Capitol Loop transitions into M-99.

Here is the first reassurance marker for the Capitol Loop in the eastbound direction, although here it is actually heading north along Martin Luther King Boulevard.

Eastern Terminus

The Capitol Loop's eastern terminus is at the BL I-96 interchange off of I-496 (Exit 7), southeast of downtown.  There is no Capitol Loop ENDS signage present at this endpoint.  What this photo shows is a JUNCTION I-496 / Capitol Loop guide sign that is in place on west BL I-96 as it approaches the starting point of the Capitol Loop in the westbound direction.  The Capitol Loop is multiplexed with BL I-96 between I-496 and Michigan Avenue along Cedar Street.
