Michigan Route 222

Western Terminus: M-40/M-89, Allegan, Allegan County. | Eastern Terminus: US 131, Martin, Allegan County.

About M-222

M-222, situated entirely within Allegan County, connects the county seat of Allegan County, fittingly named Allegan, with the US 131 freeway 10 miles to the east. Prior to 1988, M-222 was known as M-118. At that time, M-118 was re-numbered M-222. The reason as to why this change took place was to alleviate potential confusion between M-118 and 118th Street, which lies one mile to the north.

Western Terminus

The western terminus of M-222 is at M-40/M-89 in Allegan. At the intersection, M-40 South/M-89 East goes straight ahead, while M-40 North/M-89 West is accessible via a right turn. The first photo shows the actual terminus of M-222, while the second photo features the M-222 ENDS shield assembly present at the back of the intersection.
