Michigan Route 21

Length: 99.8 miles | Western Terminus: M-37, eastern Grand Rapids | Eastern Terminus: I-475 (Exit 7), downtown Flint

Western Terminus

Westbound M-21 ends at M-37, on the eastern city limits of Grand Rapids, and just west of Exit 39 off of I-96. On the M-21 ENDS assembly, note the arrow pointing to the right beneath the M-37 shield. Due to M-37 being a divided highway in this area, a "Michigan Left" maneuver is required for motorists to access southbound M-37 from westbound M-21. (For more information on Michgan Lefts, please visit Chris Bessert's Michigan Left web page.)

Eastern Terminus

The eastern terminus of M-21 is at Exit 7 off of I-475 in downtown Flint, just north of the massive interchange between I-475 and I-69. This is the sign gantry on southbound I-475 at the M-21 interchange. M-21 used to continue east to Port Huron before the days of I-69. In 1984, with the completion of I-69 to Port Huron, M-21 was truncated to this point.
